Indiana Artisans Gallery to host Carmel International Arts Festival student scholarship contest

Indiana Artisans Gallery has generously agreed to host the Carmel International Arts Festival (CIAF) Student Art Exhibit & Scholarship Contest for 2021. CIAF will take place in the Carmel Arts & Design District Sept. 25 and 26.

Indiana Artisans Gallery Executive Director Rosalyn Demaree offered space in the gallery for high school student artists from Carmel High School and University High School to display their works for the CIAF. All of the students participating and the High School Art Directors say they are thrilled to have a professional setting and an operational gallery for the 2021 event.

The art departments from each school will select the artwork to be displayed. The student artwork will be judged in a variety of categories with scholarship awards given to recognize outstanding achievement and innovation. Gallery hours on Saturday, Sept. 25 will be from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Sept. 26 from 11a.m. to 6 p.m.

Indiana Artisans Gifts & Gallery is located at 22 N. Range Line Road in Carmel, just north of Main Street. The Gallery is a non-profit offering a medley of collectibles, decor, art and small batch foods from Indiana Artists.

Former Indiana Lt. Governor Becky Skillman began Indiana Artisan as an economic development program to help expand the businesses of Hoosier artisans through initiatives that support and promote their handmade work. The comprehensive program launched in 2008. Today, Indiana Artisan continues a mission of developing a brand that gives meaning and recognition to the highest-quality Indiana-made goods.

This organization brings together the state’s talented artisans and their one-of-a-kind art and food creations and strengthens Indiana’s creative communities by connecting people to a select group of artisans who create exceptional fine art and craft, food, and beverage.

The Indiana Artisan Gallery on Range Line Road features items selected by the Indiana Artisan organization. Patrons will find anything from cheese to honey, wood carved items to woven art works, glass, musical instruments, stoneware, candies, brandies, and more.

For more information, call the gallery at (317) 964-9455 or send an email to info@IndianaArtisan.org.

The Carmel International Arts Festival is a juried exhibition. Annually, festival goers enjoy an admission-free opportunity to view and purchase art, mingle with artists, tour local galleries, dine at fine restaurants in the area, and enjoy the Festival’s entertainment on multiple stages.

On Saturday, Sept. 25, festival hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the judging at 10:30 a.m.  On Sunday, Sept. 26, the festival hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
