Girls soccer: Carmel gets past GC, HSE cruises

In a Friday night all-county girls soccer game, Carmel beat Guerin Catholic 2-0 at the Greyhounds’ Murray Stadium.
Both of Class 3A No. 2 Carmel’s goals were scored in the first half. Camryn Love found the back of the net, assisted by Saliyah Brady and Emily Roper. Brady also scored a goal, with Olivia Cebalo assisting.
The Greyhounds are 2-0-1 and host Ben Davis Monday in a Metropolitan Conference game. The Golden Eagles are 0-1-1, having played ranked opponents on the road in their first two games.
Guerin Catholic will play its first home game of the season Thursday when it takes on Heritage Christian to open Circle City Conference play.

Hamilton Southeastern, ranked No. 5 in 3A, cruised past Munster 5-0 in its first game of the South Bend St. Joseph Invitational Friday night.
Norah Wans scored two goals for the Royals, with Megan Castigilione, Olivia Smith and Tatum Coleman each scoring one. Smith, Coleman and Wans each had one assist.
Southeastern is 2-0-1 and plays two more games at St. Joseph today. The Royals take on 3A No. 12 Penn and 3A No. 10 St. Joseph.
