Rock Garage celebrates one year at Castleton location

Rock Garage is celebrating one year at its current location in Castleton on the north side of Indianapolis. ‘Rock the Lot’ will be a free concert, open to the public, taking place from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29.

The Rock Garage band program is built upon the principles of band chemistry, live experience, and having a good time. There are several ways to become involved in Rock Garage. First, anyone interested in taking music lessons will benefit from one of the excellent musicians at Rock Garage. They offer lessons both online and in-person for guitar, bass, drums, ukulele, mandolin, banjo, and vocals.

Becoming a member of a band is another way to get involved through Rock Garage. Under the guidance of one of their professional music directors, members will be assigned to a band, then will choose and even create their own music. These bands then play concerts at a variety of venues.

“We have 42 bands and growing,” stated Dave Foellinger, co-owner of Rock Garage. “This gives us a lot of flexibility to put the right people together to create the best experience.”

This ‘Rock the Lot’ event will be a great opportunity for youth and adults to learn more about the options offered. Rock Garage staff and owners will be available to answer questions as well as give tours of the facility and explain different membership options.

The public is invited to come out to this event, whether just to sit in the parking lot and listen to the various bands that will be playing, or to learn more about Rock Garage itself. While listening to the music, patrons are invited to bring their own food and drink as food vendors will not be on hand.

Rock Garage prides itself on being all-inclusive. Opportunities are for any age group, child or adult, and any skill set.

“You can be an aspiring musician or have been playing for a long time,” said Foellinger. “You don’t need to be a seasoned musician. If you just love singing karaoke and want to take it to the next level, you’ll be a perfect fit for us.”

Rock Garage bands play all around the Indianapolis area; they are currently scheduled to perform at locations in Greenwood, Bargersville and Anderson. In the past, bands have performed on classic stages like The Vogue as well as Carb Day for the Indy 500. They even had the opportunity to open for Bret Michaels at a private party. For those looking to become a member of one of the Rock Garage bands, just think of where you could play.

Come out and Rock the Lot on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 8115 Center Run Drive, Indianapolis, to learn for yourself what Rock Garage is all about and have a really great time. You can reach out to Rock Garage at (317) 610-0111 or at rockgaragemusic.com.

About Rock Garage

Rock Garage was born out of the Pandemic shutdown when Dave and Kate Foellinger, Steve and Kimberly Klinger, and Preston and Rocky Nash joined forces to start a Facebook group for musicians to talk about music, upload their songs and share ideas. The group grew to more than 800 members from all over the world and eventually led to establishing a new website and a physical location in the summer of 2020. The Castleton business, located at 8115 Center Run Road, has three large rooms for bands to rehearse and record their music, and smaller rooms for private lessons.
