The Noblesville boys soccer team began its season as the No. 1-ranked team in Class 3A, and the Millers played like it on Tuesday by beating Greenfield-Central 8-0 at the Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex at White River Elementary School.
Noblesville scored four goals in each half. Palmer Ault got the first score off a slotted through ball from Spencer Holland. Minutes later, Holland scored, with Kyle Goad making the assist. Brayden Doll half-volleyed in the Millers’ third goal off a Holland assist, then Goad connected with Holland in the game’s 20th minute for the fourth goal.
“This is a promising season for us,” said Ault. “We’ve got the guys we need to go all the way. And it’s great to get to go out there and play with all of our best friends every day.”
Holland got the Millers’ fifth goal in the game’s 50th minute, giving him a hat trick. Ault put in the sixth goal off a steal. Matthew Morris scored his first-ever varsity goal in the 63rd minute by putting in a header off a Goad corner kick. Jordan Hindes completed the Noblesville scoring, with Morris making the assist.
Goad, Doll and Michael Crandley all anchored the defense, with Morris named the Millers’ Player of the Game.
“Winning the first game of the season was pretty important to us,” said Morris. “It helps us make sure we have a solid teamwork as we head into our next game against Carmel.”
Noblesville will travel to the Greyhounds’ Murray Stadium on Thursday for a 7 p.m. game with 3A No. 7 Carmel.
Fishers, ranked No. 4 in 3A, opened its season Tuesday with a 4-1 home victory over 3A No. 20 Westfield.
The Tigers, defending regional champions this year, got two goals from Keiji Nakamae, with Andrew Marslender scoring the third goal. Noah Reinhart handed out two assists, and Kyle Clayton had one assist. Tyler March played well for Fishers as goalkeeper.
Stats for Westfield were unavailable at press time.
The Tigers play at Harrison Saturday morning, while the Shamrocks travel to Pike for a Saturday afternoon game.
Guerin Catholic, ranked No. 1 in 2A, began its season with an 8-0 win at Cardinal Ritter.
Freshman Carson Prather scored the Golden Eagles’ first goal of the game. Alex Gardner recorded the shutout.
Guerin Catholic plays Heritage Christian next Tuesday in a Circle City Conference game at home.
Hamilton Southeastern, ranked No. 3 in 3A, played to a 1-1 tie at Lawrence North on Tuesday.
The Wildcats scored their goal in the first half. The Royals began putting pressure on LN in the second half and got a penalty kick opportunity that Evan Dawdy put in the net. Southeastern had several attempts in the game’s final minutes, but the Wildcats held on for the tie.
The Royals are 1-0-1 and host 3A No. 7 Carmel Saturday afternoon.
Hamilton Heights dropped a 5-2 game home to Yorktown on Tuesday.
Lance Jones and Hunter Toll each scored one goal for the Huskies, who play at Pendleton Heights on Thursday.

Westfield, ranked No. 15 in 3A, began their season Monday with a 6-1 win at Lawrence North.
Talia Whitesell scored two goals for the Shamrocks, with Kate Malin, Kylie Haines, Kenzie Wert and Ava Smith all scoring one.
Westfield hosts 3A No. 18 Fishers tonight to open Hoosier Crossroads Conference play.
Fishers improved to 2-0 with a 6-0 win against Pendleton Heights on Monday.
Aubrey Robertson scored two goals for the Tigers, with Sami Bird, Izzy Streeter and Natalie Youngs each getting one. Streeter and Taylor Hamilton both made one assist.
Carmel, ranked No. 2 in 3A, started Metropolitan Conference play with a 6-0 win over Pike Monday at Murray Stadium.
Senior Emily Roper put in two goals for the Greyhounds, with classmate Saliyah Brady adding one goal and two assists. Senior Lauren Bailey had one goal and one assist, while sophomore Megan Hamm dished out two assists.
Junior Greta Heyl and freshman Olivia Cebalo each scored one goal and junior Ava Cebellon provided one assist. Two goalkeepers, Aubree Empie and Bethany Ducat, combined for the shutout.
Carmel is 1-0-1 for the season and hosts Guerin Catholic on Friday.
Hamilton Heights began its season with a 3-1 win over Heritage Christian on Tuesday.
Emma Hall, Kyndall Ferguson and Madyson Eshelman each scored one goal for the Huskies, wtih Savannah Deetz, Hall and Ferguson all making one assist.
Heights plays at Lafayette Central Catholic on Saturday.
Sheridan played its opener on Tuesday, falling to Southmont 3-2 in a home game.
The Blackhawks scored both of their goals in the second half. Emma Alexander put in a penalty kick, and Makaley Terry scored her first-ever goal, with Isabel Nunez making the assist.
Terry was the first-half goalkeeper, making three saves, Maelei Casler played in goal during the second half and had four saves.
“The Lady Hawks played very well tonight for their first game,” said Sheridan coach Brian Prange. “They controlled 70% of the game and defended well for the first game.”
The Blackhawks play their first road game Thursday at Frankfort.
