Hamilton North Public Library (HNPL) invites the public to a special ribbon cutting ceremony and open house at Cicero Library in celebration of the official opening of its recent addition, the Michael E. Jenkins Wing, on Sunday, Aug. 8.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place inside the library at 1 p.m. Directly following the ribbon cutting, the public may gather into the new Jenkins Wing for the open house until 4 p.m.
This event had originally been scheduled for March 22, 2020, but was canceled at the time due to COVID. Construction on the new addition was started in the spring of 2019.
Named after Mike Jenkins, a former longtime HNPL Board member and retired Hamilton Heights teacher, the new wing houses a 125-person capacity meeting room, full kitchen, and a makerspace, a place where creative types can create. Both the new meeting room and the makerspace will be available for public rental and will be used to host library events for years to come. Each room boasts large windows for optimum lighting.
Special recognition should be given to HNPL’s Director, Ann Hoehn, past Library Board Presidents, Steve Griffith and Lee Templeton, and Maintenance Supervisor, Mike Hiatt, who were instrumental in the successful completion of the new wing.
HNPL – Cicero is located at 209 W. Brinton St.
