Noblesville grad Jaclyn Lawrence receives prestigious P.E.O. STAR Scholarship

Jaclyn (Jackie) Lawrence, a 2021 graduate of Noblesville High School (NHS), was selected to receive the $2,500 STAR Scholarship from the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) Sisterhood. She was recommended to receive this award by P.E.O. Chapter DG of Noblesville.

During high school, Lawrence served as a volunteer teacher for the SMB Girls Club, a student-run, after-school club for introducing STEM careers to elementary school girls. She plays the keyboard in the praise band for Sunday services at her church and was recently nominated to serve as President of her church’s Student Leadership Council.

While attending NHS, she was a cheerleader, competed on the dance team, and enjoyed teaching at dance clinics for younger girls. She also served as president of the NHS Riley Dance Marathon, an organization that raises money to support Riley Children’s Hospital.

Lawrence plans to major in Business (Economics) at Butler University with a pre-law concentration and Spanish minor.

The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship was established in 2009 to provide scholarships for exceptional high school senior women to attend an accredited postsecondary education institution in the U.S. or Canada in the next academic year. The competitive STAR Scholarship is for women who exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service, and potential for future success.

P.E.O. Chapter DG has been a part of the Noblesville community since it was organized in 1975.
