Carmel Swim Club solidified its lead after Day 3 of the Indiana Swimming Senior State championships, which will finish up today at Pike High School.
Carmel leads the combined team scores with 1,339 points, followed by Boilermaker Aquatics’ 1,023 points. Fishers Area Swimming Tigers is in third place with 875 points. Carmel Swim Club also leads in the women’s standings with 681 points, as well as the men’s standings with 658 points.
In Saturday results, Carmel swept the 800 freestyle relays for the lone victory by Hamilton County clubs. In the women’s race, the team of Madelyn Christman, Meghan Christman, Erin Cummins and Gretchen Lueking were first in a time of 8 minutes, 28.73 seconds. The Carmel’s men team of Gus Rothrock, Alec DeLong, Aaron Shackell and Griffin Hadley dominated their race, in a time of 7:42.34, over 12 seconds ahead of second place.
There will be six events in today’s final day of competition: The 200 individual medley, 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 800 freestyle, 200 free relay and 400 free relay. Results from these events will appear in the Reporter’s Wednesday email edition.
