Joseph C. Taylor

August 15, 1940 – July 3, 2021

Joseph C. Taylor died on July 3, 2021 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was born on August 15, 1940 in Noblesville to Kenneth R. and Llewellyn R. (McGuire) Taylor.

He graduated from Noblesville High School in 1958 and was a lifetime member of the Noblesville Alumni Association.

He proudly served for five years in the Marine Corps. He was based for some time in Okinawa, Japan. He was able to visit and enjoy the experiences of the local culture and customs of Japan, Philippines, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He had the privilege of visiting the Pearl Harbor Memorial as well.

Joe met the love of his life, his wife, Glenis F. Stewart through a local newspaper column encouraging the community to send letters and cards to our servicemen. They married on November 24, 1965 and enjoyed a strong, happy relationship until she passed from breast cancer in 1980.

His parents; his wife, Glenis; brother, David; and nephew, David A. Taylor preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter, Jane Ann Taylor; a grandson, Mitchell J. Randall; great-granddaughter, Piper; and great-grandson, Hunter. He is also survived by his sisters, Pamela S. Taylor and Nicole R. (Leslie) McKinsey; brother, Lynn A. (Anita) Taylor; sister-in-law, Wanda (Dave) Taylor; nephews, Matt (Jennifer) and Marc (Makenzie) Taylor; nieces, Roberta (Steve) Wiese, Susan McKinsey Cooper, Kimberly Phifer, Kathleen (Brian) Fenoglio, and Sarah (Shane) Williams; and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He enjoyed visiting with his family and exchanging stories and memories from all of his experiences. He and his wife worked on documenting an extensive record of their family trees.

He was an experienced mechanic and worked for local companies including Don Hinds Ford, C & E Rental, and Harvey Construction. He and his brother Dave owned and operated Taylor Truck and Auto for 10 years.

Joe is a life member of the Moose #540. He served as an officer of the Moose at the local and state level. He signed up over 100 members and obtained his Fellowship Degree. He belonged to The Elks Lodge 576, American Legion Post 045, VFW, Eagles and the NRA. As a Marine, he believed strongly in the rights of citizens to bear arms.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
