Vera A. Bailey

December 28, 1921 – June 23, 2021

Vera A. Bailey, 99, Carmel, passed away on June 23, 2021. She was born on December 28, 1921 in Carmel, daughter of Oliver and Edith (Doughty) Buckles.

Vera was a 1939 graduate of Carmel High School. She was Carmel’s Telephone Operator for a number of years, Nurse’s Assistant, and U.S. Postal Mail Carrier for Carmel where she made many longtime friends. Her last work experience was the well-known Greeter at the Westfield Walmart. Vera was member of the Wesleyan Church of Carmel for many years. She also attended Westfield Friends Church and Six Points Wesleyan of Sheridan.

As the friendly, loving, and genuine lady, Vera never met a stranger and was welcoming to everyone she met. She loved all animals, especially her dogs, Macy and Mandy. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by husbands, Donald Moore and Bill Bailey; brother, Wilbur Buckles; sister, Hazel Hodgins; son, George Moore; daughter, Ruth Ann (Moore) Moffitt; son-in-law, Jack Moffitt; and grandson, Greg Moffitt.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Jeff Moffitt, Jim (Judy) Moffitt, Jennifer Moffitt, Tricia Moore, and Angie (Pete) Caserta; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

A time of visitation will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 28, 2021 at Bussell Family Funerals with a short Funeral Service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Carmel Cemetery.

Contributions, in memory of Vera, may be given to donor’s favorite charity.
