The Nickel Plate Express is partnering with Lights Over Morse Lake to bring caboose rides to Cicero for the first time in five years.

“We are excited to finally offer Nickel Plate Express rides boarding out of Cicero,” said Dagny Zupin, Nickel Plate Express Executive Director. “We’re thankful to Craig Bowen of F.C. Tucker Real Estate and Stacy’s Excavating for donating the time and materials to create a boarding platform and make our participation possible.”

Nickel Plate Express will offer rides from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 2 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 3. Rides will leave every 30 minutes and board out of the Cicero Ball Fields, located at 1159 Stringtown Pike. Tickets will cost $7, with Lights Over Morse Lake sponsoring the rides so that children 13 and under may ride free of charge.

“The Lights Over Morse Lake committee is excited to welcome Nickel Plate Express as part of our 2021 Lights Over Morse Lake weekend festivities,” said Lights Over Morse Lake Co-Chairman Craig Bowen. “This year we have experienced an unprecedented amount of generosity and sponsorship support from local businesses. Our committee is thrilled to use a portion of these proceeds to sponsor free caboose rides to Cicero children ages 13 and under.”

Noblesville residents can hop aboard the Nickel Plate Express in Forest Park on Sunday, July 4. Train rides are scheduled for departure at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. as part of Noblesville’s Fireworks Festival.

Tickets for the Friday and Saturday Cicero caboose rides, as well as the Sunday Noblesville train rides, can be purchased onsite via cash or credit card, or in advance at NickelPlateExpress.com.
