The Hamilton Southeastern girls soccer team dropped its first Hoosier Crossroads Conference game of the season on Wednesday, falling 3-1 at Zionsville.
The Class 3A No. 11 Eagles scored twice in the first half, putting the 3A No. 7 Royals on their heels right away. Zionsville got its third goal with 12:09 left in the second half.
Southeastern’s lone goal came with 5:47 left, when freshman Izzy Wallace put away a penalty kick. Royals coach Greg Davidson said his team had early chances that if those had been put away, it would’ve been a different game.
“We would’ve had the momentum,” said Davidson. “We missed those opportunities. Zionsville played very hard, got a great hustle goal to go up one to nothing. We just didn’t show up tonight. We did not play to our fullest potential, which is very disappointing to a coach, especially when we could’ve won or clinched the conference championship with this game.”
Southeastern is now 4-1 in the HCC, and plays its conference finale next Wednesday, hosting Noblesville.
University dropped a tough 3-1 match at Western Boone on Wednesday.
Junior Halle Von Ah scored the Trailblazers’ goal off a free kick.
Fishers tied Brownsburg 1-1 in an HCC game on Wednesday.
Ellen Stump scored the goal for the Tigers.
