James Robert “Bob” “Unc” Eggers, 98, Westfield, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021. He was born on March 11, 1923, in Post Fall, Idaho, son of Joseph L. and Letha M. (Garland) Eggers.
Bob was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the 10th Infantry Mountain Division. He was awarded the EAME Theater ribbon with two Bronze Stars, American Theatre ribbon, and the Victory Medal of World War II.
As an employee of Chrysler Corporation, Bob worked 23 years before retirement. Bob was a quiet man who never knew a stranger, enjoyed fishing, and spending time in his vegetable garden.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Leslie Eggers, Donald Eggers, and Rex Eggers; and niece, Mary Jo Kearnes.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 75 years, Berniece (Sears) Eggers; long-time family friend, Jenny Yee; and several nieces and nephews
Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church, of which Bob was a member, and where the funeral service will begin at noon.
A committal service with military honors will take place following the service at Hamilton Memorial Park, Noblesville.
