The Hamilton Southeastern girls soccer team had a perfect Senior Night Monday, blasting McCutcheon 9-0.
The Class 3A No. 7 Royals scored their first goal 34 seconds into the game, when Maddie Dalton sent in a cross that Izzy Wallace headed in. Wallace assisted the next goal, sending a ball to Layla Brown, who made good on a shot to the bottom corner.
Southeastern scored two more goals in the first half to make the score 4-0 at halftime. Molly Harris assisted both of them, with Claire Wilkinson and Lydia Self scoring the goals.
Ava Keaffaber got the next two goals, assisted by Brown and Wallace. Wallace then assisted a goal by senior Katie Reed. Taylor Pozzebon made the next goal, assisted by Nathalie McLeish. Harris then finished the scoring with an unassisted goal.
Seniors Saanika Kamat, Ellie Gerstner, Rylee Nichwitz, Grace Barton, Carly Count, Katie Reed and Claire Eichorst earned the shutout defensively.
The Royals travel to 3A No. 11 Zionsville tonight for a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game. Southeastern is 4-0 in the HCC, so a win would give the Royals the conference title.
A battle between two county teams in the top 10 of 3A was halted due to lightning on Monday.
No. 3 Carmel was leading No. 6 Noblesville 2-0 with 35 minutes left in the game before play had to be stopped. The contest will be re-started at 6 p.m. tonight, at the Greyhounds’ Murray Stadium.
Sheridan was a 4-1 winner over Eastern on Monday.
Makenna Hammack wasted no time getting things going for the Blackhawks in both halves. The sophomore scored in the fourth minute of the game, and then found the back of the net in the 45th minute.
Ashton Wilson scored an unassisted goal just before halftime, and junior Hannah Lugenbeal added her own unassisted goal in the 47th minute. Lugenbeal also earned Player of the Game honos.
The win ensures that Sheridan will finish second in Hoosier Heartland Conference play.
The Blackhawks played University on Tuesday, falling 7-2. The Trailblazers scored their first goal two minutes into the game, with Kenzie Allen playing a ball to Tessa Hudson for the first goal. Hudson scored again minutes later, off a Lily Snyder assist. Hudson added two more goals in the first half.
The halftime score was 4-1. In the second half, Halle Von Ah and Allen both found the back of the net, and Hudson finished the game with her fifth goal.
Sheridan stats for this game were unavailable at press time.
Westfield tied Pendleton Heights 0-0 on Tuesday.
Catie Cochran played an excellent game for the Shamrocks.
