Monroe Lake hosting Nature Play Days passport program, June 5-13

Monroe Lake will offer a Nature Play Days Passport program from June 5 to 13 that is designed to encourage Hoosiers to venture outside.

The passport includes 30 activity options in three categories, scheduled public programs at Paynetown State Recreation Area, self-guided activities to do at Monroe Lake (or another local park), and outdoor play activities that can be enjoyed anywhere, including in your own backyard.

To successfully complete a passport, participants need to finish at least 10 of the 30 activity options (including at least one from each of the three categories) between June 5 and 13.

Passports can be obtained electronically by registering at bit.ly/natureplaydays-2021 or in person at the Paynetown Activity Center now through June 13 during regular operating hours.

Completed passports must be presented to a naturalist at the Paynetown Activity Center no later than June 20 to claim a certificate and small prize and to be entered to win a hand-painted wooden plant press. The center is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.

The daily entrance fee for Paynetown SRA is $7 per vehicle with Indiana license plates and $9 per vehicle with out-of-state plates.

Questions about this event should be directed to the Paynetown Activity Center at (812) 837-9967 or to Jill Vance, interpretive naturalist, at jvance@dnr.IN.gov. Nature Play Days are an initiative of the Indiana Children & Nature Network, see more at indianachildrenandnature.org.
