Baseball: Huskies beat ‘Hawks in all-county game

The Hamilton Heights baseball team won an all-county game at Sheridan on Friday, 10-0 in six innings.
Sam Allen, Erik Malott and Drew VanOeveren all had three hits for the Huskies, with VanOeveren leading off the sixth inning by hitting a home run. Malott, Mayo and VanOeveren all hit one double. Malott drove in four runs, with VanOeveren batting in three runs, and Allen scored four runs.
Guy Griffey pitched a complete game, striking out six against three hits and two walks.
Gavin Reners was 2-for-2 for the Blackhawks.
Heights is 15-8 and hosts Frankfort today in a doubleheader. Sheridan finished the regular season 9-18 and will play South Newton Wednesday in the first round of the Frontier sectional.

Westfield cruised past Kokomo 11-1 in a five-inning home game on Friday.
The Class 4A No. 5 Shamrocks scored eight runs in the first inning to take control of the game. Trey Dorton and Keaton Mahan both went 2-for-3 at the plate, including a triple. Mac Clarke drove in three runs. Kade Robinson got the pitching win, throwing three and a third innings with six strikeouts.
Westfield is 20-3-1 for the season and plays Tuesday at Frankfort.

Hamilton Southeastern finished a Hoosier Crossroads Conference sweep of Franklin Central on Friday, beating the Flashes 6-4 in an eight-inning away game.
The Royals scored their first run in the first inning when Noah Wolf scored on a dropped third strike. Southeastern added a run in the third inning; Wolf got home again on a Cole Earlewine single.
The Flashes got their first run in the bottom of the third. The Royals scored in the fifth inning when JT Mutchner scored after Hunter Wright reached on error. Southeastern went up 4-1 in the sixth inning; Wolf scored on another Earlewine single.
Franklin Central scored twice in the bottom of the sixth and added a seventh-inning run to tie the game at 4-4, sending it to extra innings. HSE only needed one extra inning: Earlewine smacked a double in the top of the eighth to send in Wolf and Peyton Lusby. The Royals then ended the game with a double play.
Wolf totaled four runs scored, while Earlewine was 3-for-4 and batted in four runs. Starting pitcher Cam Howard got the win, while Ty Bradle finished the game, striking out five in three innings.
Southeastern finished the regular season 12-15-1 and plays Fishers Wednesday in the first round of the Westfield sectional.

University dropped a 3-1 game at Covenant Christian on Friday.
The Class 2A No. 7 Trailblazers scored their run in the third inning when Seth Hogg singled in Grady Hay. The Warriors took the lead in the fourth inning and held it from there.
Weber Morse hit a double. Jake Hooker threw five innings, with six strikeouts against two hits.
University is 18-9 and plays this morning at Scecina.
