The Hamilton Southeastern softball team began a busy weekend with a 9-2 win at Ben Davis on Thursday.
The Royals got on the board in the second inning when Jolie Johnson scored after Taylor Larson reached on error. Southeastern added three more runs in the third inning: Olivia Howard scored after tagging up on Alli Boyle’s RBI line out, then Johnson singled in Sage Peterson. Daphne Bush later hit a single to core Johnson.
In the fifth inning, two big hits gave the Royals five runs. Reece Massey doubled home Mia Reinhard and Larson, then Olivia Howard blasted a three-run home run, also scoring Massey and Ava Aguilar.
Aguilar, Howard, Jenna Chase and Johnson all finished with two hits. Chase pitched six and a third-innings for the win.
The Royals are 10-12 and play their Hoosier Crossroads Conference finale tonight at Franklin Central.

Noblesville blasted through the first inning of its home game with North Central on Thursday, and that paved the way for a 15-2 win in five innings.
The Class 4A No. 10 Millers scored 11 runs in the opening inning. That included back-to-back home runs: Abby Harvey homered into center field, then Ella White sent a home run into left field.
Reis Sjoholm and Myah Stuckey both had three hits, with Stuckey batting in four runs and Sjoholm driving in three. Cameron Grayson pitched four innings to get the win, striking out six.
Noblesville is 21-5 for the season.

Guerin Catholic rolled up another win on Thursday, beating Cardinal Ritter 9-1 in a home game.
The Class 3A No. 1 Golden Eagles scored two runs in the first inning. Izzy Kemp singled in Ana Macha, then Aliyah Dorsey scored; she had earlier gotten on base with a double. Macha then scored a second-inning run on a passed ball.
Macha batted in another run in the fourth inning, as her single scored Sarah Dilley. Guerin Catholic then poured in five runs in the fifth inning. Zoey Bussick scored to make it 5-0, then Dorsey cracked a triple to send home Kirsten Mascari, Dilley and Julia Hartley. Victoria Flores singled in Dorsey to complete the scoring.
Dilley and Macha both hit doubles during the game. Alicia Flores pitched a dominant complete game, tossing 16 strikeouts.
The Golden Eagles are 19-1 and host Scecina this afternoon.

Sheridan cruised to a 7-1 Hoosier Heartland Conference win at Delphi on Thursday.
The Oracles scored their run in the first inning, but it was all Blackhawks after that. Taylor Bates got Sheridan on the board in the third inning with a two-RBI double, scoring Allie Delph and Jacquellynne Bates.
It was Jacquellynne Bates’ turn to get the big hit in the fourth inning, as her double scored three runs, sending in Riley Reed, Delph and Katy Crail. The ‘Hawks added two more runs in the sixth inning on another double. Neese’s center field double sent Delph and Jacquellynne Bates home.
Taylor Bates and Delph both had three hits. Addyson Ream pitched a complete game, striking out seven.
Sheridan is 9-6 for the season.

Carmel picked up a 5-1 win Thursday at Greenfield-Central.
The Greyhounds got on the board in the second inning when Audrey Hussain hit a solo home run. The Cougars also homered in the bottom of the inning to tie the game, but Carmel took control in the third inning with four runs.
Ella Ohrvall singled in the go-ahead run, sending Sophie Esposito home. Ohrvall then scored on Caroline Roop’s RBI groundout. Later, Hussain doubled in Kylie Cunningham and Megan Nichols.
Ohrvall and Hussain both had two hits. Maddie Stacy pitched four innings for the win, while Emmy Brown got the save, not allowing a hit in three innings.
The Greyhounds are 14-12 for the season.

Fishers dropped a 6-5 HCC game at Avon Thursday.
The Orioles led 2-0 after four innings. The Tigers got on the board with four runs in the fifth inning: Olivia Latimer led off with a double and later scored on a passed ball. Kaylee Kardash singled in Karyn Trice, then was doubled home by Abby Gavin. Sydney Abel batted in Gavin to put Fishers up 4-2.
Avon responded with four runs in the bottom of the fifth, including a three-run home run. The Tigers added a run in the sixth inning when Kardash scored after Gavin reached on error.
Gavin had two hits. Hannah Mays pitched a complete game, striking out six.
Fishers is 12-10 and hosts Anderson this afternoon.

Westfield dropped a 10-6 home game to McCutcheon on Thursday.
The Mavericks led 7-0 after three innings. The Shamrocks scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Natalie Deck singled home Avery Parker and Maggie Roh. Later, Victoria Pucci’s bunt single brought in Deck, then Brooklyn Carey scored on Sami Stegner’s bunt RBI fielder’s choice.
Parker hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning, also scoring Roh. Parker also hit a double in the fourth inning; she was 3-for-4 at the plate.
Westfield is 8-15 and finishes its regular season this afternoon at Frankton.
