Softball: Tigers make big comeback against Pendleton

The Fishers softball team came from way back to beat Pendleton Heights 7-6 in a Wednesday home game.
The Arabians scored all six of their runs in the first two innings. The Tigers got on the board in the third inning when Hannah Mays hit a sacrifice fly to score Olivia Latimer.
Fishers blasted through the fourth inning, scoring five runs to tie the game at 6-6. Karyn Trice scored when Latimer drew a bases-loaded walk, then Sophie Schoch singled home Ashtin Grubb. Hannah Trueblood scored on a wild pitch, then Emily Walsh cracked a center field hit to bring home Latimer and Schoch.
The Tigers got the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, when Walsh singled in Kaylee Kardash. Fishers then went three-up, three-down in the seventh inning to finish up the comeback.
Latimer and Schoch both had three hits, with Schoch and Kardash each hitting a double. Nyah Duplessis pitched five innings in relief for the win, not allowing any hits.
The Tigers are 12-9 and play at Avon this evening to finish Hoosier Crossroads Conference play.

Guerin Catholic is now ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, and the Golden Eagles kept their outstanding season going with a 4-0 win at Lawrence North on Wednesday.
Guerin Catholic scored three runs in the second inning. Kirsten Mascari doubled in Izzy Kemp for the first run, then Ana Macha hit a single to bring home Olivia Labus and Mascari.
Aliyah Dorsey led off the seventh inning with a home run. Kemp hit a double later in the inning; she finished 3-for-4 at the plate. Dorsey also hit a double, as did Macha.
Kemp had another dominant performance in the circle, striking out 18 against two hits and no walks.
The Golden Eagles are 18-1 and host Cardinal Ritter this afternoon.

Carmel dropped a 10-4 game to Harrison Wednesday at Cherry Tree Softball Complex.
The Raiders led 3-0 after two innings and never trailed. The Greyhounds got on the board in the third inning when Kylie Cunningham singled Ella Ohrvall home. Carmel’s second run came in the fifth inning; Cunningham doubled on to base, then scored when Megan Nichols hit a double.
The ‘Hounds added two more runs in the sixth inning. Caroline Roop got home on Hope McDonald’s RBI groundout, then Audrey Hussain scored on Ella Greenawald’s RBI groundout.
Nichols had three hits, while Roop and Lily Sullivan each hit a double.
Carmel is 13-12 and plays this afternoon at Greenfield-Central.
