October 14, 1946 – April 8, 2021
John Jones, 74, Sheridan, passed away on April 8, 2021. He was born on October 14, 1946 to the late Edward and Agnes Jones in Chicago, Ill.
John wanted to serve his country and he honorably served in the United States Air Force, earning the rank as sergeant. John wanted a career in law enforcement and was hired by the Zionsville Police Department; he proudly served the Zionsville community for 45 years before retiring. John loved horses and would share his love for horses every chance he got; he would volunteer his time and take horses to the Gibolt Children Home, where the children could learn about horses and he would give the children rides. He would always brag about the look on the kids’ faces when he would pull up to the home with the horses.
John was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was honored to serve them as their District Deputy and State Form Director. John also looked forward to bowling and competing in leagues. He loved spending time with his friends Jeff and Jane Morris and John and Amy Chester and all his fellow members of the Knights of Columbus. John would take every opportunity he could to drive to Chicago to see his family and spend time with his grand fur babies Bo, Bella, Breezy and Baby B.
John will be missed by his daughters, Judith A. Yost and Beverly M. Anglim. He was a proud grandfather to Crystal M. Rosendaul, Dylan A. Yost, and Lauren O. Yost. He is also survived by his aunt Catherine Kiszkan, his brother-in-law Mark Sisul, his sister-in law Robin Pudlowski, and his two cousins, Mike Cecich and Bill Jones.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 410 Pearl St., Cicero, where family and friends are invited to gather from 10 a.m. till time of Mass.
