Softball: Three homers for Mays in Tigers win

Fishers’ Hannah Mays had a dominant day at the plate and in the circle on Monday, helping the Tigers to a 13-2 victory at Lawrence North.
Mays went 3-for-5, with all three of her hits home runs. Her first homer was in the fifth inning, when she sent a solo blast into right field. Mays hit another solo home run into center field in the sixth inning, then smacked another homer into center field in the seventh inning, this one also scoring Kaylee Kardash, who had just singled to get on base.
Mays totaled four RBIs for the day. Sydney Abel also drove in four runs, including a three-run home run in the fifth inning. If that’s not enough, Kardash hit her own solo homer in the third inning. Kardash batted in three runs for the game.
Emily Walsh and Abby Gavin both went 3-for-4 at the plate, including a double for each player. Mays and Walsh both scored three runs, and Mays pitched four innings for the win, striking out seven. Kamara Walker threw the last three innings, allowing only one hit.
The Tigers are 6-3 and play at Yorktown on Thursday.

Carmel’s Megan Nichols was perfect on offense for the Greyhounds on Monday, as she and her teammates pounded out 20 hits during their 18-7 Metropolitan Conference win at Ben Davis.
Nichols was 5-for-5 at the plate, driving in five runs and also scoring three. Her first hit was in the first inning, where she batted in Ella Ohrvall. Nichols doubled in Kylie Cunningham in the second inning, singled later in the inning, drove in Cunningham with a third-inning single, and sent home Ohrvall with a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
Ohrvall and Cunningham both were 3-for-4, with Cunningham hitting a second-inning triple and Ohrvall a double in the fifth. Cunningham drove in three runs and scored three runs, while Ohrvall scored four runs. Sophie Esposito hit two doubles, batting in four runs.
Carmel scored four runs in the first inning and nine more in the second to lead 13-0. The Giants made a comeback in the bottom of the second inning by scoring seven runs, but the Greyhounds held them off for the remainder of the game.
Emmy Brown got the pitching win, while Paxton Law got the save.
Carmel is 1-1 in MIC play and 3-5 overall. The Greyhounds host Franklin Central on Friday.

Noblesville scored two runs late in its game at Harrison Monday, and that was enough for the Millers to clinch a 5-3 win over the Raiders.
Noblesville’s first run came in the first inning, when Ella White hit a sacrifice fly to score Abby Harvey. In the third inning, Harvey singled in Reis Sjoholm. With the score tied at 2-2, White doubled home Sjoholm to get the Millers ahead once more.
In the seventh inning, Harvey smacked a triple to score Myah Stuckey, then was sent home by White on another sacrifice fly. White totaled three RBIs for the game, while Harvey drove in two runs while hitting 3-for-4. Gabby Fowler also hit a double.
Cameron Grayson pitched a complete game for the win.
The Millers are 5-2 and host Penn on Friday.

Westfield split two games on Saturday.
The Shamrocks cruised past Lawrence Central 21-0 in their first game. Avery Parker was 4-for-4 and hit for the cycle, with a single, double, triple and home run. Parker drove in five runs and scored four. Brooklyn Carey was 3-for-4, including a triple, and totaled four RBIs, while Zoe Watson smacked a home run and a double. Lilah Denton pitched three innings for the win and Rylie Redstone tossed four strikeouts in relief.
Westfield dropped its second game to Decatur Central 7-2. Maggie Roh was 3-for-4, including a triple, while Grace Fanelli hit a double.
The Shamrocks are 2-5 for the season.
