Fishers Arts Council, Conner Prairie partner for August outdoor arts festival

The Fishers Arts Council and the Conner Prairie Museum have announced Art on the Prairie, an outdoor arts festival to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 22 at Conner Prairie.

The event plans to feature up to 50 visual artists and artisans exhibiting and selling art, jewelry, and crafts partnered with live musical performances.

“This event is something we have wanted in Fishers for several years. We just never could find the right opportunity and venue until now,” according to Tom Rich, president of the Fishers Arts Council. “We have always wanted the festival at Conner Prairie, but scheduling was always a problem. When they finally found a date, we couldn’t have been more excited.”

Norman Burns, President and CEO of Conner Prairie, said, “As a passionate supporter of the arts, I am thrilled that we will be hosting Art on the Prairie later this year at Conner Prairie. We are a unique, historic place that inspires curiosity, and we’re excited to present even more access to the arts, culture, humanities and history for everyone in our community to enjoy.”

Executive Director of Fishers Arts Council, Les Reinhardt, says she is thankful for the opportunity. “One of Fishers Arts Council’s most beloved events had been ‘Art in the Park’, held on the Central Green in front of Fishers Town Hall. Having this relationship with Conner Prairie allows us to reimagine this treasured event while connecting with one of the jewels of Fishers.”

There is no entrance fee to Art on the Prairie. Admission will be included in the entry fee to the living history museum. Artists, artisans, and performers can find information about participating at fishersartscouncil.org/blog.
