Carmel golf starts season with victory

The Carmel boys golf team opened its season by winning a three-team meet against Avon and Lebanon Monday at Ulen Country Club.
The Greyhounds scored 153 to the Orioles’ 171 and the Tigers’ 180. Three Carmel players shared medalist honors: Senior Shoji Fujita, junior Owen Sander and sophomore Josh Armfield all carded 38s. Senior Sam Booth added a 39 and junior Patrick Michael had a 40.
The Greyhounds’ junior varsity team dropped a close match to Westfield 161-164. Sophomore Daniel Montgomery was the meet medalist with a 39, while freshman Mason Price added a 40.
