State Police thanks all 911 dispatchers

This week is Public Safety Telecommunications Weeks, and on behalf of all troopers at the Indiana State Police Indianapolis District, Lieutenant Jeffrey Payne would like to publicly and sincerely thank the incredible men and women who selflessly serve as dispatchers at the State Police Indianapolis Regional Dispatch Center.

The dispatch center at the Indianapolis Post handles emergency calls in Central Indiana from the Ohio line to the Illinois line, including three ISP Districts covering 22 counties. They also dispatch for Indiana State Capitol Police in Indianapolis.

911 calls from across the state come into the dispatch center and these men and women rapidly respond by dispatching appropriate emergency personnel. They are the calming voice for those who call 911 as well as the calming voice for first responders requesting assistance via radio. A dispatcher’s ability to multitask is nothing short of amazing and their compassion for their duty is commendable.

The Indiana State Police Regional Dispatch Center consists of 16 dispatchers who cover the center 24/7. They work tirelessly throughout all hours of the day and night to ensure emergency help is available when needed.

“Our dispatchers are undoubtedly the heart of our operations, they are incredible people and very much appreciated by all of us,” Indianapolis District Commander Lieutenant Jeffrey Payne said.
