Live musicians back for Meet Me on Main in Carmel this Saturday

Three musicians will be live on Main Street from 5 to 9 p.m. during April’s Meet Me on Main event. The City of Carmel welcomes musicians Owen Newkirk, Sammi Lorena and Connor McLaren back into the District on Saturday, April 10.

This month, online merchant interviews include Mary Johnston with the Mary Johnston Studio, Ashima Kapur with Allied Solutions and Carmel Arts Council President Mary Jane Roth. Watch live from the Carmel Arts & Design District’s Facebook page to learn more about these local neighbors. Interviews will be streamed at 5 p.m. on the District’s Facebook page.

The fun doesn’t end there. Stop by Teresa Chapman State Farm (14 W. Main St.) for a complimentary “to-go” spring craft. This fun art craft includes a mini flowerpot, paint and a brush and will be available from 5 to 8:30 p.m. (while supplies last).

April’s Meet Me on Main giveaway will be hosted on the District’s Facebook page. Each month, three $100 gift cards to businesses in the District are given away. Please visit the Arts & Design Facebook page for more information.

April’s special gallery exhibits include:

  • Carmel Art on Main: April is all about color and spring. The front room features Ladan Abbaspour and Sara Bernstein. Abbaspour is known for her colorful abstract work and loves to create different types of textures in her paintings. Bernstein is a fluid acrylic and epoxy artist and native Hoosier who describes her colorful pieces as being “intentionally unintentional” as they challenge her to go with the flow of the medium. Carmel Art on Main is also proud to announce being the only local supplier of the popular Romy and Clare pottery, featuring colorful and beautiful canisters, spoon rests, platters and other pieces to brighten your home. (111 W. Main St., Suite 140)
  • Carmel Arts Council – World’s Smallest Children’s Art Gallery: CAC President Mary Jane Roth and Co-Chair Barb Hammer will host the Art in the Garden event. Scott Osborne will be the featured artist for April and will demonstrate his pottery skills on his potter’s wheel. This year, a children’s table will also be available. Children will be given small bags of clay to make their own push pots in the garden. (40 W. Main St.)
  • CCA Gallery: Stop into the CCA Gallery to experience their Euphoria of Spring collection. Featured artists include Heidi Mandich and Melinda Speak-Huff. The gallery also welcomes new artists Roberta Sturges and Margot Boge Painter. (111 W. Main St., Suite 135)
  • Indiana Artisan Gifts & Gallery: Imagine a sloth doffing a fishing hat, a frog decked out in a bow tie and top hat, or a long-eyelashed giraffe draped in jewels. Whimsical, yet realistic, these cartoon taxidermy sculptures made of paper clay bring a smile to anyone who sees them – exactly as mixed-media artist Wendy Simon intends, as she sprinkles a little cartoon into each one. Simon, an Indiana Artisan from Frankfort, Ind., will demonstrate her sculpting techniques as she brings a new cartoon creature to life. (22 N. Range Line Road)
  • Kuaba Gallery: Kuaba Gallery is offering 10 percent off selected paintings and up to 20 percent off sculptures. Stuart McClean, a leather crafter, will also be a guest at the Kuaba Gallery during Meet Me on Main. (404 W. Main St.)
  • Mary Johnston Studio: Mary Johnston is a contemporary landscape and abstract painter. Don’t forget to stop by her studio the night of Meet Me on Main where you will see Johnston’s works that include the natural elements, large expansive skies, peaceful waters and quiet green forests. (27 E. Main St., Suite 300)
  • The Art Studio of Carmel: Head over to the Art Studio of Carmel for sidewalk chalk fun. Sidewalk chalk and stencils will be on hand for visitors to create their own images. Usage of hand sanitizer before and after using the chalk is encouraged. (30 N. Range Line Road, 2nd floor)

Additional participants include the following:

  • Agave Bar & Grill: Stop by Agave Bar & Grill for the Meet Me on Main special. The special is $1 off the house margarita in small, medium or pitcher size. (31 E. Main St.)
  • Xchocol’Art: Hop over to Xchocol’Art for all your chocolate needs this Easter season. (228 W. Main St.)
