October 29, 1954 – April 2, 2021
Darrell Parks, 66, Elwood, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021 at his home. He was born on October 29, 1954 to Rev. John E. and Gladys M. (Ely) Parks in Monongahela, Pa.
Darrell had a love for church. He gave God the praise for all His Blessings. The Lord blessed Darrell with good health, a family he truly loved and many good friends. He raised his children to have a love for church, love others, and have respect and compassion. Darrell loved spending time with his family. He had a special bond with his grandchildren, letting them ride and drive the tractors, being around horses, and putting up hay. Darrell taught his granddaughter how to throw a lasso. He was a hard worker and provider. We are truly blessed.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 44 years, Evelyn Napier Parks; daughter, Stephanie Parks, Elwood, who had her daddy wrapped around her little finger; son, Darrell W. Parks, Pickard, Ind., who was always Dad’s right-arm man; daughter-in-law, Amanda Parks, who Darrell truly loved as his own and always ready to help; grandchildren, MaKayla Parks and Brantley Parks, who both had a special bond with their Papaw; two brothers, Alfred Parks, Strawtown, and John D. and Rhonda Parks, Indianapolis; two sisters, Claretta and Curt Monday, Strawtown, and Velma Turner, Noblesville; nephews and nieces, Michael and Nikki Turner, Frankton, Tonya and Michael Risden, Noblesville, and Justin Parks, Indianapolis; and great-nephews, Jonathan and Joshua Risden.
In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Mike Turner. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Paris and Maggieleen Ely Parks, Pucketts Creek, Va., with whom he spent most of his childhood and young adult life; and his grandparents, Ray and Pauline Ely, Cooney Hollow, Va.
