Calvary Baptist Church, on the corner of 9th and Cherry streets, Noblesville, will be holding their annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 16. All proceeds will go directly towards the purchase of shoes for children in need in Noblesville Schools. There will be a variety of items.
The church adopted this mission a few years ago and has had a great response from people wanting to help. Even though Hamilton County is one of the most affluent areas in the state, they saw there was a need; however, they were unaware of exactly how great was that need. The church asked the School Administration to help with the distribution as they can see where the need lies. They have been very appreciative of our goal and only too glad to assist the church. A child should never have to go to school without good shoes.
Last year, the church was able to purchase 52 gift certificates of $50 each from Shoe Carnival. Shoe Carnival, in turn, gave additional shoes, which means a lot. The church also applied for and got a grant from the American Baptist Association.
Church members have baked cakes, pies, etc. for sales at both Farmers Market and Potters Bridge Festival. They have also had fund raisers with aid from the local Jim Dandy and Dairy Queen. Community businesses are always willing to help, especially with children. Thank you so much to each and every one of them.
