Update #46 from Dr. Derek Arrowood, Superintendent, Hamilton Heights School Corporation

Based on what I have seen as we reach the one-month mark into the second semester, the hybrid format continues to prove effective in helping keep students and staff in classrooms and our buildings open. We will remain on this schedule at the middle and high schools through Friday, March 12. We plan to reevaluate our options in early March to determine which schedule format makes the most sense beginning on Monday, March 15.

Good news! Hamilton County’s COVID-19 threat level advisory has been downgraded to the orange level, along with numerous other counties in Indiana. Metrics are indicating a downward trend in positivity and transmission rates. Effective Wednesday, Jan. 27, Hamilton County can begin following the orange advisory level guidelines. Speaking of good news, Hamilton Heights High School has named its Rising Stars of Indiana Class of 2022. They include Kal Colter, Allyson Dinwiddie, Harrison Hochstedler, and Anne Petty. They are among 1,164 juniors from 291 schools nominated for their outstanding academic achievement and leadership through a special recognition program of the Indiana Association of School Principals. Congratulations to these students on all they have already achieved as they continue to expand their knowledge, growth, and leadership skills well into the future.

I would also like to recognize two of our community partners, Hamilton North Public Library (branches in Atlanta and Cicero) and The Remnant in Arcadia for their support. We greatly appreciate their providing a safe learning environment and access to Wi-Fi for our students when they are not on campus. These partners have been in lockstep with the corporation in identifying needs, reimagining learning spaces, and working to build stronger relationships with district families and students.

On another note of interest, Hamilton Heights is hiring! We have employment opportunities available throughout the corporation that may be of interest to those whose skills and qualifications fit the position. We also always have a need for substitute teachers. We are always looking to add new talent to our Husky team. Click here to see the most recent job postings.

Let’s keep doing what we’re doing to contribute to the downward trend of COVID-19 transmission inside and outside our campus!
