Guerin Catholic finished its regular season on a winning note Thursday, beating Covenant Christian 45-44 in a Circle City Conference game at the Eagles Nest.
The Golden Eagles led 11-8 after the first quarter and 24-17 at halftime. Katie Koger and Kathryn Loso both scored eight points in the first half, with Loso making two 3-pointers and Koger one. Guerin Catholic had a solid defensive effort in the third period, holding the Warriors to four points and leading 35-21 by the end of the quarter. Covenant scored 23 points in the fourth, but the Golden Eagles were able to hold on for the win.
Koger led GC with 15 points, followed by Loso with 13 and Aliyah Dorsey with 11.
Guerin Catholic finished conference play with a 2-3 record and its regular season at 11-9. The Golden Eagles’ next game is Friday, Feb. 5 at the Heritage Christian sectional, where they will play the winner of Tuesday’s game between Heritage and Shortridge.
