There was another big all-county boys soccer game Tuesday: Noblesville hosted Westfield at the White River Elementary fields.
The Millers won 3-1, notching their first Hoosier Crossroads Conference victory of the season. Noblesville scored one goal in the first half, courtesy of Nicolai Andersen.
The Millers added two more goals in the second half, with Kole Thompson and Alec Vanyo finiding the back of the net. But the Shamrocks got on the board with under five minutes to play. Westfield scored on a free kick that hit inside the left post.
Noblesville plays two games this Saturday, against Blackhawk Christian and Homestead.
Sheridan fell to Tipton 2-1 in a Tuesday road game.
Junior Caleb Duke scored the Blackhawks’ goal with 7:12 left in the game.
Sheridan will play its first home game of the season at 5 p.m. Thursday, hosting Tri-Central.
Hamilton Heights beat Muncie Burris 3-1 on Tuesday.
Josh Thorpe got the Huskies’ first goal 13 minutes into the game, with Logan Fakes providing the assist. The Owls tied it before halftime, making the game tied 1-1 at the break.
Heights got the lead back early in the second half, when Jacob Luckey found Thorpe for the second goal five minutes into the half. Nahuel Zarate scored the third goal with 2 minutes to go, off a Sean Russell pass.
Huskies coach Derrick Dean credited the Burris goalkeeper with making “some spectacular saves” to keep the game close. He also said Heights’ defense also played great, “shutting down many great Owl attacks.”
Caleb Grabarz made five saves for the Huskies.
Carmel, ranked No. 18 in Class 3A, beat Lawrence North 5-0 in a Tuesday Metropolitan Conference game.
Senior Riley Shives scored two goals for the Greyhounds, who got back to even wtih a 4-4 record. Ben Godden, Tommy Abbenhaus and Carson Zelner all scored one goal, while Olvier Shebek, Jackson Bruun, Will Kelleher and Drew Finkam all made one assist.
“We are getting better and better each game,” said Carmel coach Shane Schmidt. “I thought our ball movement and runs off of the ball were clicking tonight. Our individual defending lead to solid team defending and we will continue to work hard each session.”
University beat Bishop Chatard 2-0 on Tuesday.
Jacob Alford and Coghlin Kumler each scored a goal for the Trailblazers.
