Just before 9 p.m. on Thursday, the Noblesville Fire Department (NFD) responded to an apartment fire in the 5400 block of Village Winds Drive. The first units to arrive were met with heavy fire and smoke coming from two apartments.
One victim was lying in front of the apartment. The victim had been pulled from the apartment and dragged to safety by a neighbor. NFD and Westfield Fire Department firefighter/paramedics treated the 57-year-old man for burns and transported him to the Eskenazi burn center for further treatment.
An aggressive attack by two units was able to contain the blaze. The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation. NFD was assisted by the Noblesville Police Department and the Westfield Fire Department.
