The Hamilton Heights girls basketball team scored another dominating win on Thursday, beating Lewis Cass 59-20 in a Hoosier Conference East Division game at the Kings’ gym.
As they’ve been doing all season, the Huskies took care of business right away, going up 17-2 by the end of the first quarter. Heights never allowed Cass more than nine points in a period, leading 31-7 at halftime and 48-16 after three quarters.
Camryn Runner threw in five 3-pointers on her way to 20 points. MyKayla Moran scored a career-high 18 points, while Jillian Osswald added 13 points, including a pair of 3s.
“Really proud of the way our girls executed the entire game,” said Huskies coach Keegan Cherry. “We shared the basketball really well and made great decisions versus their 2-3 zone. MyKayla Moran was terrific inside – didn’t force anything. She scored when it was there and found shooters when the defense collapsed. And Hadleigh Cherry takes a lot of pride in being our screener and did a terrific job of screening their zone and got us some nice looks. It’s fun when the entire group is collectively bought in and embraces being a part of something bigger than themselves.”
Heights is 11-0 for the season and returns home to play Westfield Saturday afternoon in the Huskies’ inaugural Pink Out Game for Breast Cancer.
“We will have our hands full this Saturday versus a very well-coached and talented Westfield team,” said Cherry. “I just hope we are able to compete.”
