HSE swimmers take second at Homestead

The Hamilton Southeastern swim teams competed at the Homestead Invitational on Monday, and both the Royals girls and boys squads finished second to the host Spartans.
The Southeastern girls scored 62 points, with Homestead totaling 99 points and Yorktown nine. Molly Pedersen and Kennedy Fisher each won an individual event, with Pedersen triumphing in the 500 freestyle and Fisher taking first in the breaststroke. Both swimmers also had strong relay performances, while Kaleigh Stivers, Grace Newton and Makana Goss also had solid meets as well.
The Royals boys team totaled 70 points, while Homestead won with 88 points and Yorktown scored 12. Keegan Streett was a double winner in the 200 and 100 freestyles. Other HSE boys having strong days were Thomas Reising, Maclolm Tarin, Matt Truxall, Logan Hess, Charlie Rogers, Noah Haines, Ryan Harrison, Drew Hershman and Justin Voelker.
“It is always nice when both the men and the women compete at the same meet – today was no different as the Lady Royals were crazy supportive of these guys and when the ladies were swimming, the men did a good job of supporting them as well,” said Royals coach Andy Pedersen. “These teams truly have each other’s backs.”
