March 28, 1929 – December 17, 2020
William Edsel King, 91, Noblesville, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020. He was born on March 28, 1929 to John Sherman and Laura Mae (Osburn) King in Wheelwright, Ky.
Edsel proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He held numerous jobs before settling down in Noblesville and making a career at Firestone Industrial Products. Edsel was on the founding Board of Directors for Hamilton County Opportunity School serving as their President and their first Treasurer. He and his family enjoyed trips to Arkansas, Kentucky, Georgia and Florida to visit friends and family. A harder worker will not be found. When Edsel left Firestone each day, it was always straight to the garden or under the hood in the garage as he was determined to fix anything and save money. Edsel loved his time in the Army, enjoyed working at Firestone, and much-loved gardening. He enjoyed the Nazarene Church and also very much loved his family.
Edsel is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Nell King; son, Randy (Cindy) King; daughter, Marcia (Joseph) Holmes; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers; and a sister.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeff King; two brothers; and two sisters.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville, with visitation from 11 a.m. to the time of service at the funeral home. Pastor Jesse Garner will officiate. Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery in Westfield.
