Girls basketball: Carmel falls to Panthers

The Carmel girls basketball team dropped a battle of top-five Class 4A teams on Friday, as the No. 4 Greyhounds lost to No. 2 North Central 48-36 in a Metropolitan Conference game at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
The Panthers led 14-10 after the first quarter and 21-17 at halftime. Kate Clarke led Carmel with 18 points, while Riley Pennington collected eight rebounds.
Emily Roper had six rebounds and Hannah Lach scored eight points and pulled four rebounds. Clarke and Lach each had two 3-pointers.
The Greyhounds are 1-2 in MIC play and 6-3 overall. Carmel will travel to Portage today for a 4 p.m. game.
