The Sheridan Public Library recently concluded its first Food for Fines program. For the month of November, the library collected pantry items from community members. For each item donated, $1 was reduced from any fines that may have been accrued on their accounts.
“We collected 120 items that will be donated to our local food pantry, Mama’s Cupboard,” Library Executive Director Kim Riley said. “The library wanted to give back to its community and felt this was a good way during our season of thanks. This has been a rough year for all and it was wonderful to see all the patrons donating, even if they didn’t have fines! The library is looking forward to continuing this tradition next year.”
The Sheridan Pubic Library is located at 103 W. 1st St. Stop by for a visit.
