Elsie Louise Olvey, 102, a longtime resident of Noblesville, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. She was born on March 12, 1918 to George and Karoline (Kalberer) Keller in Lafayette.
Elsie was a graduate of Lafayette Jeff High School in 1936, and a 1940 student of Purdue University. She served as chairman of the Tipton County Heart Association for five years, and was awarded a special citation for meritorious service on the fight against heart disease from the Indiana Heart Association. Elsie was a life member of Riverview Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered for 10 years at Riverview Hospital. She was a member of Noblesville Beta Epsilon Associate Chapter of Tri Kappa, Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville, and Harbour Trees Golf Club. Elsie was an active member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church serving on the Altar Guild and the Strawberry Festival Committee, baking dozens of shortcakes. She was an avid bridge player and a member of several bridge clubs. Elsie was an excellent cook and a wonderful hostess of many gatherings of friends and families. She had an engaging spirit and a winning smile. Elsie was always ready to help those in need and those less fortunate than herself.
She is survived by her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Pence, in 1956; and her husband, Gordon E. Olvey, in 1992.
Private family services will be held with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton. Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Elsie’s care has been entrusted to Randall & Roberts Funeral Homes.
