Rainwater speaks out on pre-debate COVID test

Rainwater

Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Donald Rainwater issued the following statement Thursday regarding calls for candidates to undergo COVID testing before the upcoming Indiana gubernatorial debate.

“According to the current guidance from the CDC, those who should get tested are people who have symptoms of COVID-19, people who have had close contact (within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes) with someone with confirmed COVID-19, or people who have been asked or referred to get tested by their healthcare provider. Since I do not fall into any of these three categories, I do not believe that taking a COVID-19 test is necessary.

“The Indiana Debate Commission does not require a COVID-19 test as a prerequisite for participating in the debate, but if they decide to change the rules, I will comply.  The candidates don’t make the rules, the IDC does.”
