Soccer: Noblesville boys tie with Brownsburg

The Noblesville boys soccer team played to a 2-2 tie with Brownsburg in its Hoosier Crossroads Conference and regular-season finale Thursday at Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex.
The Class 3A No. 1 Millers got the first goal of the game, with Kyle Marshall scoring off an assist by Sam VanMeter in the 17th minute. But the Bulldogs scored four minutes later, and the score would stay 1-1 through halftime and for much of the second half.
Brownsburg scored in the 72nd minute to go up 2-1. Noblesville answered with 21.1 seconds left, when Kyle Goad scored on a header. Palmer Ault got the assist.
The Millers finished 6-0-1 in the conference and are 14-0-1 overall. Noblesville will play Muncie Central Monday in the first round of the Hamilton Southeastern sectional.

The Sheridan girls team won its regular-season finale on Thursday, beating Rossville 6-1 in an away game.
Isabell Nunez scored the Blackhawks’ first goal, with Chaney Smith getting the assist. Kadence Voege then added a goal to make it 2-0.
The Hornets scored with 10 minutes left in the half, but Voege answered, scoring to put Sheridan ahead 3-1 at the break. The Blackhawks then blasted through the second half, scoring two goals in three minutes on their way to the win.
Sheridan will play Tri-Central next Thursday in the semi-finals of the Tipton sectional.

The Carmel boys, ranked No. 10 in 3A, played to a 0-0 tie with Ben Davis in a Thursday Metropolitan Conference game.
Junior TJ Barrett recorded the shutout for the Greyhounds.
“I am proud of the effort the guys gave tonight,” said Carmel coach Shane Schmidt. “We had an opportunity to rest our starting lineup and give several players the opportunity to play the whole game. We created several scoring opportunities both halves, but were just unfortunate to not capitalize on any of them.”
The ’Hounds finished MIC play 5-0-2 and are 10-2-4 overall. They host Westfield Wednesday in the sectional semi-finals.

The Guerin Catholic boys, ranked No. 3 in 2A, beat Zionsville 4-1 on Thursday.
Lukas Piñon scored two goals for the Golden Eagles, with Michael Crandley and Joseph LaFiosca both adding one goal.
Guerin Catholic finished the regular season 9-1-2 and will play Lebanon on Monday in the first round of the Cardinal Ritter sectional.
