The IHSAA released its sectional groupings for baseball and softball on Tuesday.
There were no changes for the Class 4A schools in either sport. All the big schools will continue to play in Sectional 8, which will consists of Carmel, Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern, Noblesville, North Central and Westfield.
In Class 3A, both Guerin Catholic and Hamilton Heights will continue to play in Sectional 24. The softball sectional remains unchanged, with the Golden Eagles and the Huskies joining Delta, Jay County, New Castle and Yorktown.
In baseball, however, the sectional will consist of Blackford, Delta, New Castle and Yorktown, in addition to Guerin and Heights. Blackford moves up from 2A, while Jay County moves to Sectional 23.
In Class 1A, Sheridan and University are being moved to different sectionals.
The Blackhawks will move to Sectional 54 in both sports, but each sport will have a slightly different grouping. Sheridan’s baseball team will join Clinton Central, Faith Christian, Frontier, Pioneer, Rossville and Tri-County in baseball, with the Blackhawks’ softball team will play with Clinton Central, Clinton Prairie, Faith Christian, Frontier, Rossville and Tri-County. (Clinton Prairie’s baseball team is in Class 2A, while Pioneer’s softball team will play in Sectional 50.)
Meanwhile, the Trailblazers will remain in Sectional 58. Their baseball sectional will consist of Bethesda Christian, Christel House Academy, Indiana School for the Deaf, Providence Cristo Rey and Tindley. Traders Point Christian Academy will join the sectional in the 2019 season.
In softball, University will play with Bethesda Christian, Covenant Christian, Eminence, ISD and Tindley.
