Sharon Kay Anderson

December 8, 1944 – September 8, 2020

Sharon Kay Anderson, 75, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, September 8, 2020 at her home in Sheridan. Born December 8, 1944 in Noblesville, she was the daughter of the late Omer T. and Virginia H. (Holland) Whaley. She attended Sheridan High School and later hired on with Delco Electronics in Kokomo. She retired in 2001 after 27 years with the company. She was a proud member of U.A.W. Local 292.

Sharon was always the first one to the car when it was time for a road trip. Short day trips or traveling half way across the country, getting to watch the countryside go by was the second-best part of the adventure; the first was finding a new casino, or stopping by an old favorite. Las Vegas was the “promised land” in the West and Biloxi, Mississippi, her destination to the South, but when Indiana built one the next county over, it was like a dream come true. Sharon loved to play the slots and Anderson was as good a place as any to take a crack at the one-armed bandit.

Visiting casinos wasn’t her only reason for hitting the open road; she also enjoyed chasing the sun. Cooler fall temperatures were Sharon’s sign to start finding a warmer spot to be. Florida was her home away from home during the winter months; she was able to spend her winters outdoors, soaking up the sun. When Indiana warmed up again, Sharon returned home to start working around her property, getting her flower beds and garden ready for summer. It also meant getting to spend more time with family; summer days spent grilling out and swimming in the pool, as well as sharing endless laughs and making memories. Sharon also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles while sitting on her deck.

Family was very important to her, and that was especially true when it came to her grandkids. She was always their biggest supporter. Sharon was the rock for her family. She will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and being loved by her.

Sharon is survived by her son, Perry “Les” Anderson (Ronna), Tipton; daughters, Marshell Kay Anderson, Kokomo, and Melanie G. Ewing (Marshall), Tipton; grandchildren, Paige Leslie Anderson-DeSouza (Billy) of Utah, Austin Perry Anderson (Lindsey) of Utah, Danielle Kaye-Lyn Hadley (Mike), Dayton, Ohio, Devon Marshall Ewing, Tipton, and Dylan Omer-Lee Ewing, Tipton; great-grandchildren, Alex Ortega, Alayah DeSouza, Brixton Anderson and Jaxson Anderson; brothers, Donald Whaley (Lois Osborne), Lebanon, Wm. Birden; her great-grandchild, Adrianna Ortega; and by her loving husband of 52 years, Perry Marshall Anderson on September 25, 2012. She and Perry were married in 1960.
