Huskies smash Northwestern

Hamilton Heights broke through for its first win of the season on Friday, and did so big time.
The Huskies traveled to Northwestern to begin Hoosier Conference East Division play, and came home with a 41-7 victory. Heights scored two touchdowns in each of the last three quarters, while holding the Tigers to one score in the third period.
“Once we got rolling, it was a good night for us,” said Huskies coach Jon Kirschner. “It was a very exciting night.”
Trey Ehman and Isaac Tuma provided many of the fireworks for Heights. Ehman rushed for 225 yards, including two touchdowns. First was a 15-yard run early in the second quarter that got the Huskies on the board.
Midway through the third period, Ehman streaked down the field 89 yards for his second touchdown of the night. Not only that, he then ran in a two-point conversion. It was his second two-point run of the game; the first came late in the second period and followed a six-yard touchdown pass from Guy Griffey to Gavin Brammel.
Tuma took over in the second half, catching three touchdown passes. He hauled in a 57-yard scoring reception with eight minutes left in the third quarter. Tuma took two more long passes (a 44-yarder from Griffey and a 51-yarder from Vincent Harley) into the end zone in the fourth quarter. Tuma finished with four catches totaling 172 yards.
Overall, the Huskies totaled 491 yards of offense. Kirschner said that anytime they needed something big, they got it.
“Defensive stop, or a big run or a big pass play, something like that,” said Kirschner. “It was a very balanced attack.” He commended the coaches and players for buying into the game plan and sticking with it.
Heights is 1-3 and returns home next Friday to host Western in another Hoosier Conference East Division game.
