Huskies girls win Landes Invitational cross country meet

The Hamilton Heights cross country team hosted its annual Landes Invitational on Thursday.
The Huskies won the girls team competition in a tiebreaker. Both Heights and Western Boone scored 30 team points; the Huskies got the victory on the sixth-runner placement. Ella Ewing finished 16th, 26 seconds ahead of the Stars’ sixth runner.
Maria Mitchell cruised to an individual championship, racing home in 18:54. Teegan Madara (sixth), Morgan Guthrie (eighth) and Mary Ella Bichey (10th) also placed in the top 10.
The Heights boys finished second, scoring 42 points. Muncie Burris edged out the Huskies for the win with 39 points. Heights had three runners reach the top 10: Evan Williamson was fourth, Clayton Forrer sixth and Preston Miller seventh.
Sheridan competed in the boys race and finished fifth as a team. Axel Aleman paced the Blackhawks by placing 10th.
