The Westfield girls golf team had a record-breaking day at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet, which took place Monday at Bear Slide.
The Shamrocks totaled 295, which set a new record for a team score at the HCC meet. Freshman Samantha Brown was the meet medalist with a three-under 68, a record for an individual. Brown went three-under on the front nine and played to even par on the back nine.
Allie Hildebrand finished with a 72, which placed her third individually. Brette Hanavan scored a 74, which included a hole in one on the 16th hole. Hanavan went two under on the back nine.
Brown, Hildebrand and Hanavan all earned All-Conference honors.
“It was really great to see our kids compete out there today,” said Westfield coach Trevor Neu. “We had a lot of exciting moments for our girls and that was fun to watch. I felt like we managed the course really well today and didn’t let some miscues get the best of us. That has been a big focus for us recently and it was good to see that pay off today. Sam’s score is tremendous because it is really hard to be medalist in our conference but to be under par as a freshman is really impressive. Brette’s hole in one is such an amazing moment and one she will remember forever. I am so happy for her.”
Hamilton Southeastern finished in second place as a team with a 305. Yanah Rolston was the individual runner-up with an even-par 71. Marissa Spreitzer and Grace Dubec both carded 77s and Ashley Marcinko scored an 80. All four Royals golfers earned All-HCC honors.
Noblesville placed third with a team score of 315. Sarah Brenneman led the Millers with a 75, while Taylor Caldwell had a 78 and Ellie Karst carded 79. All three Noblesville golfers earned All-Conference honors.
Fishers scored a 409 to take seventh place. Lilly McVay had a 90 for the Tigers.
