Girls golf: Royals win Mudsock dual

The first Mudsock event of the year went to Hamilton Southeastern, as the No. 7-ranked Royals beat Fishers 169-193 Tuesday at Grey Eagle Golf Club.
Southeastern had three players scores 42s: Yanah Ralston, Ashley Marcinko and Grace Dubec. Marissa Spreitzer was next with a 43, followed by Amber Luttrell with 44 and Kaley McHaffie with 47.
The Tigers’ Lilly McVay was the meet medalist, carding a 38. Other Fishers scores with Kristi Lilek 50, Marissa Moore 51, Sarah Majeski 54, Megan Lapp 57 and Sydney Meyer 62.

Top-ranked Carmel won a four-way meet that involved some of the state’s best teams Tuesday at Prairie View Golf Club.
The Greyhounds scored a 145. Third-ranked Westfield was next with a 160, followed by sixth-ranked Noblesville’s 170 and 11th-ranked Zionsville’s 180.
Katie Kuc led Carmel and the field, winning medalist honors with a one-under par 35. Ava Hedrick and Michaela Headlee each scored 36s. Sydney Longstreth added a 38 and Claire Swathwood carded a 39.
“Having five players in the 30s on a long and tough golf course is remarkable,” said Greyhounds coach Kelly Kluesner. “The coaching staff is so proud of the effort this team puts in and their hard work is paying off.”
Sophie McGinnis and Sam Brown both had 38s for the Shamrocks. Other Westfield scores were Brette Hanavan 41, Cate Jensen 43, Allie McKeown 43 and Allie Hildebrand 44.
Caroline Whallon led the Millers with a 39, followed by Sarah Brenneman’s 40.
