Who needs snow to sled? The City of Westfield welcomes the public to come out and have fun on a huge slip and slide form 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Simon Moon Park Sledding Hill. Parking will be available in the east lot at the City Services Center, 2728 E. 171st St.
Attendees will need a free ticket to enter the event space, regardless of whether they are spectating or participating. The all-ages event will run in two one-hour shifts that are limited to 200 attendees per hour. All attendees must wear a mask and use it when social distancing is not possible.
There will be two lanes and participants can bring boogie boards or saucers sleds or just body-slide. A 100-foot tarp will be draped down the hill. The Westfield Fire Department will bring Engine 383 to spray the tarp. Baby soap, which is gentle on the eyes, will be used, but participants may want to use sunglasses or goggles to avoid getting splashed in the eyes.
