Alford Chapman

October 19, 1940 – July 27, 2020

Alford Chapman, 79, Fishers passed away on July 27, 2020 in his home following an extended illness. He was born in Russell County, Ky., on October 19, 1940 to Lawrence and Mary (Lawless) Chapman.

Al is a graduate of Noblesville High School (1959) and worked for many years as a manager at Standard Grocery in Noblesville. He enjoyed watching football and was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts. Al was a simple man who will be lovingly remembered as a kind, quiet soul.

Al is survived by one daughter, Lisa Chapman, Noblesville; one son, Mark Chapman, Noblesville; two brothers, Gene Chapman, Fishers, and Kenny (Kim) Chapman, Noblesville; two sisters, Nelda (Terry) Ballenger, Noblesville, and Carol (Jack) Ott, Noblesville; and one grandson. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jonell Wooldridge; and one brother, Jimmy Chapman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Refuge Christian Church, 11772 E. 196th St., Noblesville, with Pastor Stan Sutton officiating. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Social distancing will be observed and face coverings will be required per the Governor’s Executive Order. A mask will be provided for those who need one.

A committal service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Bethel Cemetery in Russell Springs, Ky., with Pastor Darrell Coe officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Al asked that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
