East Union Christian Church will be celebrating its Sesquicentennial year of Ministry as a congregation a with a two-day celebration event starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19 and continuing at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20.
Situated just two miles east of Ekin and five and a half miles west of the Town of Atlanta, East Union has sat at the crossroads of US 31 and 296th Street for 150 years. The first meeting occurred in the Union School house in 1867. Since then three buildings have housed the congregation of East Union. The first two buildings were located on the southwest corner of US 31 and 296th Street and in 1980 the congregation entered its current building that sits on the southeast corner of US 31 and 296th Street.
All past members and friends are welcomed to attend these services. East Union has invited Bob Russell, retired Minister of South East Christian Church (Louisville, Ky.) to be our guest speaker at all three services. Saturday will feature music by Grammy-nominated and award-winning singer/songwriter, David Staton. On Sunday music will be presented by The 3rd Row Boys, a group driven by the passion to spread the message of God’s love through gospel music. The group was founded by three young men who sang together on the third row of their church choir.
