Virginia Jean “Ginny” Blythe

May 28, 1922 – June 7, 2020

Virginia Jean “Ginny” Blythe, age 98, of Sheridan, Indiana, passed away on Sunday morning, June 7, 2020 in San Clemente, Calif. Born May 28, 1922 in Sheridan, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Rita “Opal” Foster.

After graduating from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, Ginny worked for several companies around the city, including the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. She also spent many years working as a secretary within the welfare industry. However, it was her first job after graduating that changed her life. Not long after she began working for Weirton Steel in Indianapolis, a young man named Russ Blythe introduced Ginny to another young man by the name of Bill Blythe. She and Bill became fast friends and were married on February 8, 1946.

Ginny enjoyed gardening and antiquing. She was always on the lookout for the perfect table or an interesting knickknack that one of her friends or family members would love. Her family and friends always took top priority. She enjoyed entertaining and cooking and was very good at both; if you left her house hungry, it was your own fault. Ginny was also an animal lover, giving many cats and dogs a wonderful forever home throughout the years.

Ginny was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and friend whose strong faith helped shape her life.

Ginny is survived by her daughter, Lynn Jung; grandchildren, Heather Groendycke and Josh Blythe; and great-grandchildren, Branden Groendycke, Logan Groendycke, Kai Wilmot and Brody Blythe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Scott Blythe; brother, Niles Foster; and her granddaughter, Laura Brown-Wilmot.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan. Reverend V.J. Stover will be officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kercheval Funeral Home in Sheridan.
