Young Hamilton County golfers were active on the Junior and Prep tours throughout the past two weeks, and there have been numerous local winners on both tours.
Fishers’ Mattingly Upchurch is leading the list with three victories on the Boys 11-12 division of the Prep Tour. Upchurch won events at Chippendale in Kokomo and Crestview Golf Club in Muncie, then tied for first at the Cascades in Bloomington.
Other county winners included Westfield’s Brette Hanavan and Jake Cesare in the 13-15 division. Fishers is well-represented with other golfers, with Connor McMillan and Amber Luttrell winning their categories at the Anderson Country Club, Cole Starnes taking first at Greencastle, and Gavin Davis and Janelle Garcia doing the same at Tiger Pointe Country Club in Greencastle. Garcia made two eagles during her winning round at Tier Pointe on July 19.
Jordan Adam of Noblesville and Ava Hedrick of Carmel also picked up event wins at Heartland Crossing in Camby, with Jacob Modleski winning at Wood Wind.

INDIANA PGA RESULTS
Three Hamilton County golfers were part of a five-way tie for seventh place at the Indiana PGA Southern Open, which took place Monday at Chariot Run Golf Club in Laconia.
Westfield’s Evan Bone, Carmel’s Nick Dentino and Noblesville’s Mike O’Toole were all part of the tie, each finishing with a two-under par 70 at the 18-hole tournament. Dentino, the 2019 IHSAA individual state champion, had six birdies in his round, with Bone making five birdies. O’Toole, the recent Indiana Senior Open champion, made an eagle on the eighth hole, in addition to draining three birdies.

Noblesville’s Kenny Cook was part of a three-way tie for first place at the Indiana PGA Northern Open, which took place June 8 at Delaware Country Club in Muncie.
Cook shared the championship with Connersville’s John Gordon and West Lafayette’s Cole Bradley; all of them shot a three-under par 67 in the one-round tournament. Cook had six birdies in his round.
Ty Gingerich of Russiaville, a Guerin Catholic graduate, tied for sixth place with a one-under 69. Gingerich, now playing at the University of Cincinnati, made four birdies.
Carmel’s Daven Bhagar made an eagle on hole No. 3; he finished tied for 26th with a score of 72.
