There will be a three-woman battle for the championship in the final round of the Indiana Women’s Golf Association State Amateur tournament today at Old Oakland Golf Club South/East in Indianapolis.
Three players are tied for the lead at four-under par 140 after Thursday’s second round. One of them is Westfield’s Cailyn Henderson. The University of Indianapolis star drained eight birdies on her way to a five-under 67 for her second round. Henderson is tied with Indianapolis’ Julia Potter-Bobb and Erica Shepherd of Dye’s Walk Country Club; those golfers both had two-under 70s for their second-round scores.
Henderson, Potter-Bobb and Shepherd will tee off at 10:06 a.m. today in the final round of the Women’s State Amateur. Meanwhile, three other county players are in the top 10 after Round 2.
Carmel’s Haylin Harris is tied for sixth with a 149, shooting a 73 for her second round, including three birdies. Westfield’s Sophie McGinnis is in eighth place with 150; she had a string of three straight birdies in her round of 77. Another Westfield player, Jocelyn Bruch, sits in 10th place with a 152. Bruch had two birdies in the second round, carding a 77.
