Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard has requested the U.S. Postal Service change the Preferred Last Line (PLL) of address for residents and businesses within zip code 46290 from Indianapolis to Carmel. He expects the request will be acted upon promptly. The requested change does not affect the zip code, which will remain 46290 and continue to be serviced by the Nora post office.

The City of Carmel received approval from the U.S. Postal Service Headquarters to change the PLL for residents and businesses located within zip code 46280, which becomes effective July 1.
“I am pursuing the change in the address line for zip code 46290 now after the favorable decision by the USPS Headquarters on zip code 46280 and recently hearing from residents within zip code 46290 requesting the same change. This address change will help postal customers within zip code 46290 be better identified as Carmel residents and businesses,” Brainard said.
